John Whaite is a British Chef, Food Writer and TV personality. Probably best known for winning the third series of the BBC’s The Great British Bake Off, John now runs his own cookery school, John Whaite’s Kitchen, set in the heart of rural Lancashire.
John presented ITV’s food programme Chopping Block with Rosemary Shrager, which aired in April & May 2016. His third book, Perfect Plates In 5 Ingredients, published by Kyle Books, launched on 21st April. He is also resident chef on ITV’s Lorraine.
Food has always been John’s passion, learning at his mother’s knee and growing up on a dairy farm. There, he learned about British produce and the importance of supporting local food producers and artisan crafters. His parents also owned a fish and chip shop, where John started his first job “ as potato peeler “ aged just 10. Even earlier than that, he was always keen to make ‘a living’ from food, selling bags of pick and mix to his peers at school “ without the teachers knowing, of course.
John then went on to study at Le Cordomgon Bleu, and gained a first class Law degree from the University of Manchester after declining a place to study at Oxford University. John decided to hang up the gown and don the apron, a decision spurred on after he won The Great British Bake Off. Following his win, he wrote John Whaite Bakes: Recipes for Every Day and Every Mood and John Whaite Bakes At Home.
John is a popular brand ambassador and has worked with a number of leading blue chip food businesses. John also enjoys demonstrating his latest recipes, regularly appearing at some of the nations best food festivals and shows.
Sophie Grigson is an award-winning food writer, teacher and television cook. Her remarkable Pop-up Cookery School, based in Oxford (www.sophiescookeryschool.com) is now four years old, and goes from strength to strength. She is not a chef, but an enthusiastic champion of domestic cookery – in other words eminently practical, and keen on eating well.
She has written too many books to count, from Eat Your Greens to her most recent book, Spices.

Edd Kimber is a baker, food writer and TV personality and is the author of three cookbooks - The Boy Who Bakes (2011), Say It With Cake (2012) and Patisserie Made Simple (Oct 2014).
Edd grew up in a house where baking was a regular occurrence, his first memory was standing on a stool in the kitchen helping his mum to make mince pies. Fans of ‘The Great British Bake Off’ will instantly recognise Howard from the fourth series of one of Britain’s most watched television shows. Elbowed muffins, missing custard and the infamous hemp loaf, Howard with his quirky style and love of unusual ingredients was at the heart of some memorable TV moments with appearances on Bake Off’s spin-off show ‘An Extra Slice,’ and having the final word in the last ever Bake Off on the BBC when we saw him back on our screens last Christmas.
A regular writer for the Great British Chefs website, he also teaches at Hartingtons Artisan Food School in Bakewell, Derbyshire.
His first book, ‘Delicious Gluten-Free Baking’ was published in September 2015 to rave reviews.

The Baking Festival wouldn't be what it is without Nigel our resident baker and master of ceremonies.
Having spent a lifetime in the hotel and catering industry, Yorkshire born and bred Nigel has worked at some of the UK’s biggest and busiest hotels. He also spent time overseas at the highly acclaimed French cookery school Ecole Le Notre where he picked up a wealth of experience and knowledge in areas of specialist patisserie work.
In 2007 Nigel filmed and produced a set of three cookery DVDs and launched his fabulous cookery academy in North Lincolnshire. Nigel’s academy is said to be Lincolnshire’s finest cookery school.
In between running courses at his cookery academy, Nigel regularly demonstrates at top food festivals and events throughout the UK. Amongst some of his more memorable achievements he was featured in a celebrity chef calendar (with his clothes on!) and over the years has catered for Nelson Mandela and Princess Anne.
In January 2012 Nigel became a regular recipe columnist for The Lady Magazine online.
2013 saw Nigel front a nine part foodie TV series, Haloodies. The show was broadcast to 136 countries around the world.
2014/15 was a busy year with delivering courses at the academy along with Nigel’s many food festival appearances across the UK and his commitment to charities that included running pop-up restaurants for CASE a Hull based charity that runs a disabled adults learning centre.
2015 - the year that Nigel headed up the national campaign #EatWhatYouLike, a campaign that raised an eyebrow or two but gained much support from the nation as the campaign message was and is, eat what you like and live life to the full, everything in moderation is good for you.
A marriage of food and wine followed in the autumn/winter of 2015 as Nigel teamed up with Wine Rack UK to deliver food and wine tasting events at all of their new high street Wine Rack store openings across the UK, don’t worry if you missed one, more will follow in 2016!
